Robert Garcia

Robert Garcia (born December 2, 1977) is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for California’s 42nd congressional district since 2023. Born in Lima, Peru, he earned a B.A. and Ed.D. from California State University, Long Beach, and an M.A. from the University of Southern California. A Democrat, Garcia was a lecturer, newspaper publisher, Long Beach city council member (2009–2014, vice mayor 2012–2014), and mayor of Long Beach (2014–2022) before his election to the U.S. House in 2022. He has been reelected to the succeeding Congress.
