Kweisi Mfume

Kweisi Mfume (born October 24, 1948) is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Maryland’s 7th congressional district since 2020, and previously from 1987 to 1996. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he earned a B.S. from Morgan State University and an M.A. from Johns Hopkins University. A Democrat, Mfume was a Baltimore city council member (1979–1986) and NAACP CEO (1996–2004) before his initial election to the U.S. House in 1987 and a 2020 special election. He has been reelected to all succeeding Congresses.
