Robert C. Scott (born April 30, 1947) is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Virginia’s 3rd congressional district since 1993. Born in Washington, D.C., he earned an A.B. from Harvard University and a J.D. from Boston College School of Law. A Democrat, Scott was a lawyer, served in the U.S. Army Reserve (1970–1974), and was a Virginia state delegate (1978–1983) and senator (1983–1993) before his election to the U.S. House in 1992, chairing the Committee on Education and Labor (2019–2023). He has been reelected to all succeeding Congresses.
